Endoscopy is a procedure which allows the doctor to view the interior of hollow organs using a specific instrument called the endoscope. ex; Food pipe.  It is a minimally invasive non surgical procedure which is primarily used to examine the digestive tract through the light and camera that is attached to the endoscope and viewed for detailed study on a colour monitor. Endoscopy is usually carried out for multiple purposes even other than mere diagnosis. It can be performed to remove a small sample of the tissue for further analysis in the lab. This process is called endoscopic biopsy. It can be performed to view the contents of the abdomen carefully during an ongoing surgical procedure like repair of a stomach ulcer, gallstone or tumor removal.
